Sapphire’s Fireside Chat with Ros Coffey
September 24, 2020 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
In 2018 Pride in Diversity in partnership with PwC released the report ‘Where are all the women?’, a research study that used data from over 1,200 same sex attracted women to understand the low visibility and engagement of LGBTQ+ women in the workplace.
Five key themes emerged from the report detailing why LGBTQ+ women are not visible, and that impact on their ability to feel included and equal in the workplace. These were:
• The macro & micro culture
• The dual effect of gender & sexuality
• The impact of the perceived stereotype
• Role models
• Networks & support
According to 2020 AWEI survey data, 52.85% of men with a diverse sexuality are completely out at work, compared to 34.14% of women with a diverse sexuality.
On 24th September we will be hosting Ros Coffey of Macquarie Bank to discuss the ‘double glazed’ ceiling; we will hear about her experiences of being a woman in the workplace with the added complexity of also being LGBTQ.
Ros is Head of People, Culture and Client Experience for Macquarie’s Banking and Financial Services Group and serves on that Group’s Executive Committee. She has Group-wide responsibility for Client Experience, in addition to leading Client Service, Internal Communications, Human Resources, Talent, Diversity & Inclusion and Learning & Development.
Before joining Macquarie, Ros held executive roles in global financial services firms including Lehman Brothers, Barclays Capital, Salomon Brothers and Nomura, and has lived and worked in New York, London and Hong Kong.
Please join us as we continue the discussion around the experience of LGBTQ+ women in the workplace and strategies to improve visibility and inclusion.
